Here's a tender moment from my week:

I woke up clear minded one morning and asked Heavenly Father what I needed to do that day. And the answer was simple: look at people. Really see them.

As we were walking through park after our studies, there was a man sitting by himself and as we talked, it turned into a soul searching, heartfelt conversation I will never forget. 

"I know I'm a child of God, I just don't know if I'm the child that He wanted." 

And I stared into this hardcore, tattoo covered, just out of 11 years of prison man's eyes with tears in my own eyes, telling him sometimes I wonder that too. But I have come to know that God is our loving Heavenly Father, who loves us independent of our actions, simply because we are His. It was sweet to feel the spirit testify to me, but even sweeter to see this man's eyes catch a light. He knew. He felt it.

That's what happens when we look at people, when we really see them for who they are: a child of God. 

I hope that you can look at yourself with the love that God has for you. That is one of the greatest truths I have come to know: God is my loving Heavenly Father.

It was a sweet week to be in the temple, driving down with our mission president and wife and reflecting on the things we have learned and felt over the last years. Ultimately it all comes down to the love of and for Jesus Christ that my heart has experienced. 

"I have felt your love in my life and now I want to share your light." 

A man stopped us in the street and spilled all his beliefs and as we parted ways he said "I wasn't going to talk about anything but God with you, I can see it in your eyes that you're here for the Lord." 

When people stop and talk to you, want do they see in your eyes?

 If Jesus Christ was here and he asked you to follow him, to be baptized, what would you say? 

*whispers* yes. 

Why? 

Because I want peace.

I stared into Jay's soul as I asked him those questions and in that moment, something shifted and he knew. He knew why he wanted to follow Jesus Christ. 

His siblings each answered with their own yes and their own reason, but there was a powerful silence that filled that room when Jay he wanted peace. Looking back it's because it's true. There is peace in Jesus Christ.
